Following the dismantling(by the saanich bylaws) of our community at the greenhouse i am in search
of a new home.
december 1st would be the best time to move .
but it could be january 1st in case of "no luck"....
so i let myself open to these possibilities...
if you know about 1 bedroom in a health conscious community house.....let me know. under 450$
if you hear about a single cabin in town or on a southern gulf island.....let me know. up to 600$
i am : musician, yoga instructor , gardener, cook, clean, quiet, funny, dancer.
thanks for keeping an eye open...

saanich bylaws
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 9:21 PMI am so shocked that this bylaw, used to evict our friends, and anyone else struggling to live affordably & light-on-the-land, is legal, in light of the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms.
Does anyone else want to make noise about Saanich's ability to define what is a family???
Bylaw 8200, Section 5.20, Limitation of Residential Occupancy by Unrelated Persons
"Where a dwelling unit is occupied by two or more persons unrelated by blood or marriage, the total number of persons unrelated by blood or marriage occupying the dwelling unit, including boarders shall not exceed four."

Re: saanich bylaws
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 10:26 PMI find this incredibly shocking in light of the
huge homelessness problem in this city, with
vacancy rates as low as 1%. I absolutely think there
needs to be an outcry.
I would contact the cool aid society, the MLA, MP and
TAPS (these are just the few that come to mind, but I am
sure there are more), as well as register complaints with the
city of saanich. This is appalling. I will definitely be calling,
if I could get more info (ie: address, owners name etc,) that would help.
Thanks for letting us know Lisa. -

Re: saanich bylaws
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 10:28 PMoh and just to point out, poverty or financial status is
unfortunately not one of the categories protected by the
charter.
