Kia Orana!
Pacific Peoples’ Partnership is looking for adventurous and excellent performers, artists, designers, and volunteers to complete our program for the first ever Cedar Surf Celebration and Festival (working title!), tentatively scheduled for the 22nd, and 23rd of August.
Pacific Peoples' Partnership is a Canadian Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to working in partnership with people of the Small Island Developing States of the South Pacific and First Peoples of Canada to promote rights-based sustainable development models that empower communities while respecting traditional knowledge, cultural integrity and the fragile island eco-systems upon which they depend (check out www.pacificpeoplesparnership.org).
The Cedar Surf Festival aims to celebrate the ancient Polynesian sport of surfing, and the vibrant and dynamic surfing community within Victoria and Vancouver Island. We are looking to celebrate and unite these diverse cultural communities in a weekend of showcasing the music, styles, fashion, art, and film, as well as the history, of this sport and lifestyle that has become such an important part of the culture of Vancouver Island.
We are looking for performers, artists, musicians and volunteers to help create a dynamic festival spanning a few days, and incorporating the many aspects of surf and coastal culture. Anyone with an inventive and imaginative idea, as well as a desire to be involved in a collaborative event to bring awareness to and celebrate the pacific coasts is encouraged to get in contact with us!
Performers, please submit a video, clip, cd, url, or book a meeting with Chandler McMurray at events@pacificpeoplespartnership.org, or by phoning 381-4131.
Volunteers: Like any successful collaboration, Pacific Peoples Partnership could not continue without the support, ideas, and skills of our wonderful volunteers! If you are looking to have a great time, as well as to contribute to a festival that is marinating itself into becoming a spectacular edition to Victoria’s Festival scene, we are looking for volunteers on all fronts. If you are interested in becoming involved with ideas, promotions, set up, clean up, bar, door, tech, lighting, poster design, etc, please contact events@pacificpeoplesparnership.org with your area of interest.
